BHA Support Hub
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, a special edition of the Boars Hill Association Newsletter was published on 25th March 2020, in part, to ensure that those residents who are not currently on our email list are aware of some important initiatives taken by the BHA in the last few days. It was also issued to confirm that all BHA social events and Coffee Mornings have been cancelled until further notice. Here is a summary of the content:
The BHA has formed a community support hub to offer care and support to members of our community during the period of the Covid-19 emergency. We have a higher than average number of potentially vulnerable residents on Boars Hill and we feel that as an “extended family” we can do much to look after each other.
The Hub comprises a list of individuals who would like to offer help and support during this period of uncertainty. We envisage such things as shopping, delivering post, telephone emotional support and even help with electrics if needed! If you live on the Hill would like to be added to the Hub as a supporter then please use the Contact Form mentioning what kind of support you are able to offer; it could be help with anything that is difficult to do whilst in isolation eg even just posting a letter. – Don’t forget to include your telephone number.
If you live on Boars Hill and would like to receive support please don’t be shy – let us know how we might help you by clicking here: Contact Form. We shall endeavour to put you in touch with a Hub member who can help.

Since first circulating the above we have had a very good response to our new BHA Support Hub and now have about 30 volunteers on our list. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered so far. We have already responded to a number of requests which include organising assistance for two very elderly widows living alone.
We do hope you will not hesitate to use the Hub for support if you feel you would like help and, if you wish, please let us know if you are self-isolating and / or believe you may be infected. We will keep such information confidential but it will help us and our volunteers to be particularly aware of your situation.

The Fox Inn – now offering a Take Away service
We are pleased to inform you that Fitz and Katie, who are now running the Fox Inn, are offering a Take Away / Delivery service with which the BHA will assist where necessary. A copy of their standard Take Away menu is shown below but if you would like something which is not listed, please do ask as some variations may be possible. You may call the Fox (01865 735131) to place your order and pay over the phone. Please advise them of your preferred collection arrangements so that you do not need to breach the social distancing guidelines. The Fox will be happy to leave orders, with your name on them, at the usual main entrance between the double doors (normally open) and the inner door.
If you are already self-isolating, as a result of possible infection or because you are in one of the vulnerable groups required to do so, then again you may advise us using the Contact form. We will then seek to arrange collection and deliver to your door using one of our volunteers.
Please note that the delivery service is not intended for those who are just worried but otherwise well and not actually required to self-isolate – our volunteers (many over 70 themselves!) are as much at risk as you are.
We can inform you that we have already had several positive reports on both the food and service provided!

Appeal for Missing E-mail Addresses
We have a mailing list which covers the majority of houses on the Hill. BUT not all!
In these difficult times we feel it is important to be able to communicate rapidly with everyone on the Hill. And in better times it will also help us to inform you of any late changes to events. If you have not previously received our emails about the BHA Support Hub, then it means we do not have your email address!
In that case please click Contact to give us your details so that we can add you to the mailing list. BHA emails generally start with BHA in the subject heading so that you can readily identify them. Access to the BHA mailing list is strictly controlled and complies with GDPR. It is used only for BHA purposes; addresses are not passed to any third party. Many thanks for your help.
Please contact us if you have any suggestions as to how we might further care for and support our family on Boars Hill during this time.
We were very disappointed to note recently that a party of about 10 young people were celebrating a birthday on the Old Golf Course despite clear government instructions prohibiting any gathering of more than two people. A local resident out walking her dog addressed them from a distance and advised them that they should not be there at all (as they had driven there in two SUVs) and she was shouted and screamed at by one of them to say that one of the girls was having a birthday party and that they were entitled to hold it there.
Nevertheless please remember to maintain 2 metres, or 6 feet, social distancing whilst you are taking your constitutionals in our beautiful spaces on Boars Hill.
Best wishes, from all at The Boars Hill Association.
