Bus Service to Oxford and Abingdon Restored

After the demise of the previous No. 44 daily service some years ago, a No. 42 Boars Hill bus service will start on Monday 15 April 2024.  It will run twice a day in each direction on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

It will leave Boars Hill for Oxford at about 10:15 and 13:00 and return trips to Boars Hill will leave Oxford Westgate (Stop M4) at 10:40 and 13:25.

The service to Abingdon via Sunningwell will leave Boars Hill at about 11:00 and 13:45 and the return trips will leave Abingdon High Street (Stop A7) at 10:00 and 12:45

The slightly less good news is that, as would appear from the above, this new service may be of rather limited value for day visits to either town as the first service each day will return about five minutes after arriving in either town. That leaves only the second service each day which will return to Boars Hill from Oxford a little less than 3 hours later at 13:25 which will hardly allow any time at all for lunch in the city. Whilst the only return from Abingdon will leave only about an hour and a half after arrival and will allow little more than a short visit to the shops.
